Quick answer: Pick Pocket Hose Ballistic if you want a general garden hose with a reinforced sleeve and a swivel connector at the spigot. Pick Pocket Hose Marine if you wash a boat, fill a water tank, or want a white hose that the store says will not scuff a deck. Marine is also the cheaper one at the low end of the range.

How we wrote this comparison: we used the live BulbHead product list and the product pages for both hoses, checked on 13 October 2026. We have not used these products ourselves, so everything below is what the store and the brand state, not our own test results. Brand claims are written as claims.

The store does not state hose lengths on the pages we read. The price ranges most likely reflect different lengths or bundles, but we could not confirm which option costs what.

Price and value

On 13 October 2026 the store lists Ballistic from $39.99 and up to $99.99. Marine runs from $29.99 to $49.99. These are one-time prices in US dollars. We did not see a subscription option on either page.

Marine also shows a compare-at price of $99.99 on the product list. The store's other text gives $69.99 as the earlier price for the starting option. Because the two numbers differ, treat any "was" price as the store's own reference and judge the hose by its current price.

At the entry level, Marine is $10 cheaper than Ballistic. Marine also comes with a three-setting spray nozzle, which the Ballistic page does not mention. If you would otherwise buy a nozzle separately, that adds to the value. At the top of the range, Ballistic costs about twice as much as the most expensive Marine option. Without lengths listed, we cannot say which gives more hose per dollar.

Build and durability

This is where the two hoses differ most. According to the product page, Ballistic has an anti-burst sleeve with a Liquid Crystal Polymer strand. The brand says this strand is 5X stronger than steel. That claim is a strength-to-weight comparison and covers the reinforcement strand only, not the whole hose. The page says so itself.

The page also lists a 3-layer latex core, thicker washers, stronger connector protectors and lead-free, copper-infused fittings. It adds that the hose has a UV-resistant coating, and it says the brand is backed by over 100 patents.

Marine lists a different set of features. The store says it has an exclusive outer casing that will not snag, tear or wear, and inner tubing that will not kink. It also says the connectors resist corrosion and are ready for salt water. The page does not mention the latex core layers or the reinforcement strand.

The Ballistic page includes a note that "bulletproof" refers to the reinforcement fiber used in protective gear. The hose itself is not meant to stop bullets. We mention it so the name does not mislead you.

Connectors, water safety and handling

Ballistic has a 360-degree Pocket Pivot swivel connector at the spigot. The brand says it reduces twists, snags and kinks as you move around the yard. Marine's page does not list a swivel connector.

Marine states that it is lead-free and drinking water-safe. That matters if you fill a boat tank. The Ballistic page says its fittings are lead-free and copper-infused, but it does not say the hose is drinking water-safe. If you plan to fill a drinking tank, check with BulbHead support before you buy Ballistic.

Both hoses expand when the water is on and shrink when it is off. Both pages describe them as lightweight. Ballistic says it expands up to 3X and ends nearly bone-dry when retracted. Marine says it shrinks itself dry. One note from the Marine page: if you use a sprinkler with a Pocket Hose, disconnect the sprinkler as soon as you turn off the main water, because it can move as the hose retracts.

Colour and use case

Marine is a white hose. The store says the colour will not leave scuff marks on a boat deck, unlike a black rubber hose. If you own a boat, this is the main reason to choose Marine. A customer comment on the page also describes it as easy to store and use on any size boat.

The Ballistic page does not name a colour. It is described as a hose for tougher jobs and everyday watering, with a UV-resistant coating for extended outdoor use. One customer comment on the page mentions using it around a pool area.

We saw only a few customer comments on each page. We cannot give you a reliable rating for either hose.

Delivery, returns and warranty

Both products follow the same store rules. Standard shipping is free on orders over $49 to one address in the 48 contiguous states. Below that, the store lists standard shipping at $5.99. Rush (up to 3 business days) is $19.99 and Next Day is $29.99. Orders usually ship within 24 hours, Monday to Friday, and standard delivery takes up to 7 business days. Alaska, Hawaii, US territories, Canada, PO boxes and military addresses pay a $10 surcharge.

This matters for price. A Marine hose at $29.99 does not reach the $49 free-shipping line by itself, so you would pay shipping unless you add another item. Ballistic at $39.99 also falls short. Both product pages show the "free shipping over $49" bar.

Both pages show a 30-day money-back guarantee. The store's refund policy says you can return items in original condition within 30 days for an exchange or refund. Shipping and handling, and Shipping Insurance, are not refunded. A prepaid FedEx label costs $9.99, taken from your refund. If you ship the parcel yourself with tracking, you get the full product price back. Refunds go to your original payment method within about 5 business days after the return is processed.

We found no separate warranty for either hose on the pages we read. If a warranty matters to you, ask BulbHead support at 800-887-2717 before you order.

Who should buy Pocket Hose Ballistic

  • You want one hose for the garden, patio or pool area.
  • You care about the reinforced sleeve and the swivel connector at the spigot.
  • You do not need a hose that the page calls drinking water-safe.
  • You want a larger size option, since the range goes up to $99.99.

Who should buy Pocket Hose Marine

  • You own a boat and want a white hose that will not scuff the deck.
  • You need a hose that the store calls lead-free and drinking water-safe.
  • You use salt water and want connectors the store calls corrosion-resistant.
  • You want a bonus spray nozzle included and a lower starting price.

Our verdict

For a boat owner, Pocket Hose Marine is the clear pick. It is built around the boat use case, it states it is drinking water-safe, and it comes with a nozzle at a lower starting price.

For a home gardener, Pocket Hose Ballistic is the better fit. The reinforced sleeve, the thicker core and the swivel connector are aimed at everyday yard work, and the brand presents it as the tougher hose.

For a budget buyer with no boat, Marine at $29.99 is cheaper, but it is made for marine use. Check the lengths on the product page before you choose, because the store does not list them in the text we read. Prices were checked on 13 October 2026 and can change.
